Welcome to Longwater Tai Chi

Jane and Patrick Foley primarily teach Tai Chi as a relaxing, enjoyable exercise. Its slow, meditative movements are practised by millions of people for their proven health benefits. We both switched from successful careers to spread our love of Tai Chi. Between us we have over 60 years of experience in the art. We teach regular classes and workshops in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset UK and sometimes further afield.

We have a broad curriculum and teach traditional Tai Chi (taijiquan), its ancient sister art Qigong, and Meditation in various ways to suit different levels of interest and ability. Our main focus is to nourish the body, mind and spirit and lead you to a life of better health and wellbeing.  Read more about what we teach from our curriculum pages. If you are a beginner and want to know what might suit you best, please visit our beginners page or contact us.

We also still regularly attend both local and international events with our main teachers Master Sam Masich and Master Bruce Frantzis.

Coronavirus Outbreak and Current Classes and Workshops

We have been complying with all the government policies regarding Coronavirus and indoor exercise classes and continue to do so, until such time we are advised otherwise by our venues and sports governing bodies.

Live venue classes start again from Sept 19 2021 in Downton, Fordingbridge, Ringwood, St Leonard’s (Dorset) and Wilton. These classes will still run with COVID regulations so places are very limited. It is not essential but we prefer it if you book and pay in advance and we cannot offer refunds for non attendance. Booking is available on the website and you can see how many places are available.

All venue-based classes continue to be run under strict social distancing measures - please check the event details or view our protocols here.

Still Available for Free!

Stay Connected! is an online video library and live Zoom session service which we originally provided to help our students through the recent difficult times of self-isolation lack of social contact. Tai Chi and Qigong practices are a great way to keep healthy and focused on the positive. We do not intend to charge for these practice videos, but rather invite all participants to make a voluntary contribution if they are in a position to do so.

Stay Connected! is available to anyone who completes a registration process with us. If you would like to know more, please contact us.

Private Lessons

If you are interested in studying one-to-one with a Longwater teacher, we are also offering both online private lessons and lessons in our home studio. We also offer small group lessons in the studio for up to 3 people.

These give you a fast track method of progressing in your practices. One hour of a teacher’s direct attention is also worth many hours of attendance in a regular class. To register for a lesson please click here.
