Yang Style Workshop - Wilton
Based on Yang style Tai Chi, these regular full day workshops allow us to teach both the external postures and applications as well as the internal energy components (Neigong) that make your Tai Chi reach the next level.
If you main interest is an active and robust activity that is both stimulating and enjoyable, and includes partner connection practices, then this style is for you. Join us for a many and varied curriculum of Tai Chi study that is specifically designed for beginners to enjoy and develop. More advance students can use the techniques learnt here to deepen their understanding of principles and so improve their practice.
The workshop is divided into a morning session studying hand forms and afternoon session for sword/sabre forms.
Morning session 10am to 12.30pm £30
Afternoon session 1pm to 3.30pm £30
Full Day 10am to 3.30pm (inc 30 min lunch break) £45
Guidelines for the day's teaching:
Warmups based on the Five section taijiquan WuDuanJin (Five Brocade)
Learning hand forms and applications from the 5 Section Taijiquan curriculum.
1.30pm - 3.30pm:
Learning sword forms from the 5 Section Taijiquan curriculum, as well as more traditional operations like 13 Powers from the Yang family curriculum.
5 Section Taijiquan
The Five Section Taijiquan is a modern routine created by Master Sam Masich. Having trained and taught for more than thirty years, he has been included as one of the 100 Extraordinary Chinese Martial Arts Practitioners in the world today by the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association and is an awarded eighth degree master.
It is part of a comprehensive curriculum which includes:
- The basic five section tai chi solo form
- Five Section two person tai chi
- Five Section tai chi sword
- Five Section two person tai chi sword
- Five Section Chen style
- intermediate to advanced practices with sensing hands (Jue Shou) and energy work (Qigong).
Forms and exercises from '5 section taijiquan' (wuduan taijiquan in Chinese) have been adopted by Tai Chi schools around the world. The program has been designed to meet the needs of contemporary recreational taiji groups and to prepare committed students for traditional taijiquan training.
About Yang Style
A Tai Chi form can be either large, medium or small "frame", which dictates the amount of space required to perform it as well as the actual physical extensions involved. It can also be "short" or "long", which simply describes the number of individual movements the form contains. Yang-style forms are traditionally medium to large frame and develop very high quality martial skills and chi gung (internal subtle energy work).
