Join us for one of our full day Sunday workshops in Downton, Wiltshire. The day will be divided into segments covering different topics, and you are welcome to attend part or all of the day to suit your interests - charges are made on an hourly basis with a maximum capped rate of £55 for the day. These workshops are primarily for students who have already studied (to any level) the topic they wish to attend.   • 0930-1000 FREE: Warmups / Baduanjin
  • 1000-1130 Session 1 £18: Baduanjin Sect 1-7
  • 1130-1300 Session 2 £18: Modified Wu 64
  • 1400-1630 Session 3 £30: Sanshou 88 Revision
  • FULL DAY concession £55

"Taiji Baduanjin was originally created by the Yang family as a training method for mobilising qi and training jin. Like other forms of baduanjin there are 8 sections, but the movements are not the same. It can be distingushed by its 'forging and smelting' of the sections and joints of the body and strengthening the internal organs and their way of functioning."

This session will offer you a full workout as we review the first seven sections of the form. Beginners are welcome.

Modified Wu 64 Tai Chi

Developed by our teacher Brian Cooper, the Modified 64 takes about 12-15 minutes to perform and is quite compact so can be practised even in restricted spaces. As you progress through the movements you will get a full workout that will upgrade your body, mind and spirit, as nothing is missed from the tradional long form except repeated movements.

This session is only available to students who have studied the form and wish to revise and practice the movements.

Sanshao 88 Sparring Form

In Taiji Boxing, the 88 Sanshou sparring set is one of the major practices. It can make up for the insufficiencies of pushing hands and large rollback. Generally when doing pushing hands or large rollback, if you become easily disconnected from your opponent’s hands, or if you are having trouble sticking, warding off, or neutralising, then the sparring set is valuable.

It's been a long time since we have been able to practice this form together, so this session will start from the beginning as we attempt to remember all the moves!
