It can be very beneficial to immerse yourself in a subject; to give yourself more time to absorb an intricate flow of thought or feeling. Longwater Tai Chi provides weekend workshops in two formats, to suit your available time:
- half day (typically 3 hours)
- full day (5-6 hours incl. time off for lunch)
Based on our Yang style curriculum, these regular full day workshops allow us to support your practice by helping solve your problems, and guiding you to the next level. They are divided into 2 or 3 sessions during the day where we focus on specific topics (see below).
Morning session1 10am to 11am £12 : Tai Chi Dagger solo form / Open Session
Morning session2 11am to 12.30pm £18 : 5 Section Chen style
Afternoon session 1.30pm to 4pm £30 : Traditional 88 Sanshou partner form
Full Day Special 10am to 4pm (with lunch break) £48
You may attend any of the sessions individually to give you maximum flexibility for the topics you want to practice.
Based on Wu style Tai Chi, these regular full day workshops allow us to teach both the external postures and applications as well as the internal energy components (Neigong) that make your Tai Chi reach the next level.
If you main interest is health and wellbeing through mindfulness and conscious energy work, then this style is for you. Workshop includes in depth study of components from the Bruce Frantzis Energy Arts neigong system.
Morning session only 10am to 1pm £36
Five Seasons Qigong: Spring Growth and Gentle Extension
We continue our popular series of 'immersion' weekend workshops that span the year and its seasons. Discover and embody ancient practices that were created to naturally resonate with the energies of the Earth through its annual cycle.
The benefits of these workshops apply to beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. If you are experienced in one of the exercises we are teaching, you will have the added benefit, with our guidance, of being able to delve more deeply into its components. Each session will also to allow you to integrate the seasonal theme into your daily practice, using whatever Tai Chi or Qigong form or exercise routine you may know - irrespective of its origin.
Sat (10am to 4.30pm) / Sun (10am to 1pm). Cost £70 for both days / £35 for the Sat Morning session only.
On Sunday we offer an in-depth workshop where you can deepen your study, as well as review and practice what we learn on the Saturday - see details. You do not have to attend this session but it is included in the price.
For the first time, we will begin teaching the traditional Yang style long form (108), which we started to introduce during our very successful Wu 108 workshop last July. The traditional Yang-style 108 movement bare-hand Taiji routine is what started the modern Taijiquan revolution. This is a chance look at key sequences, movement intent and application.
This 2 day workshop introduces you to the principles of Tai Chi (Taiji) movement and begins the study of the long form; future workshops will be in a one or two day format and held every 4-6 weeks, and the study is likely to take several sessions to complete, depending on student ability.
Sat/Sun Full Day 10am to 4pm (inc lunch break)
