Tai Chi Qigong Principles - Wilton 11am

Join us for Active Tai Chi Qigong!

 shibashi class fordingbridge

Join us for 45-50 minutes of low-impact, energising exercise in this popular Tai Chi Qigong class. Moves are performed standing, but chairs are available if you need to sit for a while (there is no floor/mat work). Suitable for all age groups and particularly those who wish more in-depth knowledge of the principles behind the movements.

This Tai Chi Qigong class will work with the enjoyable, flowing 'Shibashi Set 1' moves PLUS aspects and moves from other Tai Chi Qigong Sets. In this class we will also explore what is behind some of the movements, in terms of principles like weight-change, co-ordination and energy. There are also occasions when we may stand (or sit) still for a while, to work on quietening the mind to explore the more subtle meditative and perceptive aspects of Tai Chi Qigong.

You won't know how nice it is until you try it!

Cost £10
Class led by Jane Launchbury, Senior Instructor Tai Chi Union of Great Britain.

About the Exercises

This class is based on 'Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi', which means 18 movements. With their roots in Tai Chi, these calming and enjoyable movements are very much simpler to follow than the traditional forms but still offer many of the benefits. The flowing movements are usually done to relaxing music, are simple to copy and are repeated with the instructor, so you don't have to remember a lot of instructions and sequence. The movements can help improve balance, flexibility, memory and general well-being through releasing stress and tension.

Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi Set 2 builds on Shibashi Set 1, but can also be learned by complete beginners. Set 2 works with the connection to Earth and allowing the Earth energy to naturally rise and support us. The movements of Set 2 are more challenging than Set 1, with more stepping, turning and balancing than in set 1.
